Update 1: Initialization

Let's go!

The music cuts out here. And yes, our main protagonist, Lan Hikari, is talking here, but he doesn't have a portrait.

Note that this is the first BN game that takes place in 20XX. The previous games were said to take place in 200X.
Nowadays, almost everything is run by the network. Life sure is sweet. We don't really have to do much. Everyone has a PET. And in each PErsonal Terminal, lives a NetNavi who will do anything for you.

We NetNavis jack in to terminals, gather information, make your life easy, and help you out, but if you leave everything to us, you're asking for trouble!
Enter MegaMan.EXE, Lan's NetNavi, and actual literal biological brother, Hub Hikari. See, Lan and Hub were twin brothers, but Hub was born with a degenerative heart disease that led to him dying as a baby. Because being twins confers a weird symbiotic relationship in the BN universe, if Hub died, Lan would too.

This led to their father, Yuichiro Hikari, the world's foremost computer scientist, digitizing Hub's brain and (future, I guess?) personality, which formed the basis of MegaMan.
Every year, anime plot disease takes hundreds of anime lives. It is a preventable tragedy. Call us at 1-800-WAIFU-LYF for a free brochure.

Lan's portrait also shows up now.
Never mind that. Did you think about what to say today?
Ah, about that... I'm no good at, uh... Hey, I know! You can do my speech for me!
Oh, stop it, Lan!

We then fade into a pan-across of Lan's class at the ACDC elementary school--the first time it's shown up since BN4.

This is Ms. Mari, Lan's teacher, in her first appearance since BN4.

This is Yai Ayanokoji, Lan's Very Rich Friend, and general jerk. She operates Glide.EXE, a virtual butler who's utterly terrible at virus busting and NetBattling.
She also has the biggest forehead in the entire game.
Entire series, more like. It's a goddamn plot point in the anime at one point, where she reflects the sun off her head to blind Madd, who is cheating during a NetBattle by blinding Mayl with a mirror.

The BN anime was dumb.
Yes, unfortunately... One of your fellow classmates is moving to another school...

This class has been together for years, so one of them leaving is a big deal.

This is Dex Oyama, Lan's Rival-Friend. He's a bit headstrong, but he means well (well, after BN1, at least). He operates GutsMan.EXE, a thick-headed but brutishly strong Navi.
Dex has a surname?!
W-what, Dex?
Do you know who's leaving?
...Yeah, I know.
For real?! You know who it is?! Tell me already!
...
...Lan, did you want to say something...?

...

W-wait! You! How could you not tell us something this important?!
Yai... I'm sorry I didn't tell you guys.
Aren't you mad too, Mayl?

Mayl? Did you...
I knew... I found out from Lan's mom a little while ago, but I didn't want to say anything until...
Rounding out Lan's circle of friends is Mayl Sakurai, Lan's next door neighbor and longest friend. Throughout the series, she mostly serves the role of being Lan's love interest, with almost no character beyond that. She operates Roll.EXE, who's kind of implied to have a crush or something on MegaMan.
I think you mean she serves the ROLL of being Lan's love interest! Waha! Waha!! Waha!!!
I really wanted to tell you guys, but I just couldn't do it. I'm sorry, everyone.
...Lan will be moving to Cyber City the day after tomorrow, on Sunday. So, let's all try to see him off, okay?
All of the BN games up until now have primarily taken place in Den City. This is currently happening in ACDC Town, a suburb of Den City.

Gee... Thanks...
Hey, Lan! You should say something.
Um, I... Uh, I have to pack, so I don't have a lot of time. But I wanna say thank you, to everyone!

Waaaaaah! Lan! Don't go!

Don't say that!
Jesus lady, keep it together, come on.

My family and I will be moving to a place called Cyber City.
This is Yuichiro Hikari, by the way.
I thought his name was 'exposition man'. Who talks like this?
But, pops, what are you gonna do there?
Well, I can't give specifics, but Cyber City's mayor has asked for my help... That is to say, it's still under construction, but in 6 months, an Expo about the harmony between technology and nature is scheduled to open. Cyber City's Net traffic will jump dramatically once the Expo opens. Since I'm a Net specialist, I was asked to go and make sure the network can handle all those requests.
Good ol' traffic surges. As old as the World Wide Web proper! (See: the University of Wisconsin FTP server choking so hard on the release date of the Doom shareware that even id themselves couldn't upload the shareware itself)
When it's over, you'll be back, right?!
I'll be continuing my research into next-gen Net systems, and Cyber City is a model next-gen Net society. So, even after it's over, we will most liikely be staying...
...Oh...
...
...
Now, now. Don't look so down. It's not as if you will never see each other again. We're still in the same country. We can come and visit. Come visit us once the Expo opens, okay?
That line might seem a little weird if you live in the US, but it makes more sense when you realize that Battle Network primarily takes place in Japan (named Electopia in the US scripts).
For Europeans, it probably sounds pretty normal, as well.

This is Haruka Hikari, Yuichiro's wife, and Lan and Hub's mom. Being a married woman/mom is her entire character.
We may be changing where we live, but you'll always be our friends. So feel free to drop by!
I don't know about Haruka there, but if someone doesn't call before showing up, I'm not answering the door.

Come to the car when you're done.

BN6's "sorrow" music is the most effective of any of the similar tracks in the previous games, in my opinion.
I, uh... Thanks for coming today...

Dex jumps up and down a little.
Laaaaan! No matter where you go, I'll always be your rival!
Dex... Yeah, we'll always be rivals! Always!
You may think you're far away, but you'd better write to me! We'll always be connected through the Cyberworld. You'd better come see us... *sniffle*... Waaah...
Should note that Yai is two years younger than Lan, Dex, and Mayl. She skipped two grades.
Yai... Okay, I promise to keep in touch.

I-I thought you would all graduate together... *sniffle*... You are my first...*sniffle*...graduating class...so I always hoped that...I'd see you all graduate together... *sniffle*... I really wanted to see that...
Ms. Mari... I wanted to graduate from ACDC School with everyone, too...but even when I move, you'll always be my teacher!
Lan... *sniffle*...
KEEP IT TOGETHER LADY, COME ON.

Thanks, you guys... I've gotta go now.

It'd be so nice...being together...always... *sniffle*...
Subtle, Mayl.
And watch it sail over Lan's head there.
Mayl...
I'm sorry... I told myself I wouldn't cry...
To be fair to Mayl--and I usually am very fair towards fictional characters--she's known Lan since they were both...either babies or toddlers, the games are never really clear about how long. Losing a friend you've known as far back as you can remember hurts. A lot.

So, don't cry... *sniffle*...
...Yeah.
I'm glad you understand.

Take care!
You betcha, Lan!

Everyone gets close for one final goodbye.

And with that, the music cuts out, and Lan leaves the house he's lived in since he was born.
I'm still a little sad, but unpacking everything makes me feel like I'm getting ready for a new adventure!

Sounds like fun! Let's go!

And so, I'm given control of Lan.

Let's check out all the background details, a habit of mine since I was a kid.

When it was time to move, Lan had to throw some of it away, so there isn't very much left...

It was moved very carefully from his old house.
We'll be making use of this computer a lot.

Even though he just moved in, it's already a mess...
Not unexpected for a 10 year old. Lord knows my closet was a fucking nightmare when I was 10.

...Although Lan's closer to 11 years old by this point, now that I think about it.
Did he seriously throw his clothing on the ground AS SOON AS HE MOVED IN?!
Lan Hikari is incompetent.

The pajamas have the same mark as Lan's beloved bandana.
I wonder how much it costs to get custom clothes with that emblem that Lan and MegaMan both share.

The dog on that calendar is Gow, pet dog of Lan's grandfather, Tadashi Hikari (aka Right Light, when translated to English). Gow played a pretty major role in BN5.
It's better than that picture of Dr. Light that he had on his bookcase. That was the creepiest poster.
For the record, Tadashi Hikari is the Dr. Light of the BN universe.

And yes, in BN4, Lan did have a poster of Dr. Light on his bookshelf side. It was kinda weird.

The flames around him burn bright like the sun.
Django is the protagonist of the Boktai series, a series of RPGs for the GBA that involved a solar sensor inside the cartridge that affected gameplay. Battle Network and Boktai each had crossover content with each other, starting with BN4 and Boktai 2. However, because Boktai 1 and 2 both sold poorly in the US, Konami didn't bring Boktai 3 to the US, leading to Capcom USA excising all Boktai-related content from the US versions of BN6--except for the GunDelSol 1-3 chips, and this poster in Falzar.

Good thing I don't have to worry about that, though, because I'm playing EXE6 with a translation patch.

Lemme sleep, MegaMan.

That rug is the one reference to the fact that Lan loves soccer. ...Apparently. It's visually referenced a bunch, but the games never talk about it.

I'm going to connect your computer to the Net later. Once it is ready, I'll let you know.

Okay! Take care and don't come home too late!

...Mmm.

It looks like she splurged and got all sorts of new, nifty appliances and cooking tools!
I mean, I'm mostly a fan of that deep blue decor.
Oh. HELL no.

This kitchen is HIDEOUS.

The tiling, cabinets, counters, and appliances don't even match, hell the appliances don't match EACH OTHER, and you don't use dark blue in the kitchen! Plus, I see literally no appliances ANYWHERE, nor any cooking tools!

I hate this kitchen SO much.

Mom has a good eye when it comes to shopping, so it's bound to be a good fridge!
That's a demonstrable lie, so I highly doubt it.

Nothing has been planted yet, so it's still just grass.

The monkey looks at you with a cheery smile.
Hi, Data!

In Gregar (BN games usually have a bunch of variation of background details between versions), this is a painting of a Servbot instead.

It's great for relaxing after a day of hard NetBattling.

Again, this kind of trained machine learning is oddly prescient, coming from BN.

It's sitting there happily cleaning the living room air.

It's so soft and comfy, and it even seats three!
Plus MegaMan, technically. :v
What do they do if guests come over?
Well, Dad is never home, so...

A ship's steering wheel is sitting on top. It's a souvenir from a trip somewhere...
If this is a reference to something, the reference went right over my head.

It almost seems like a sin to use it and dirty it up...
This bathroom is almost as bad as the kitchen. And it's huge for being a half bath!

"Change the roll if the toilet paper runs out!"

It gets rid of nasty mold, and fills the air with Minus Ions.
We'll be able to jack into the toilet later, but we can't now. This happens a lot in BN games, random jack in spots just aren't available until arbitrary points in the style.

Anyway, let's head out into Central Town.

It was built just recently, so it still has that sparkle.
Hold on, didn't Lan say the garden was a center courtyard thing? Where on earth does it get sunlight?
Sunroof that they forgot to sprite?

You can't see it from here, but they have a rooftop pool.
But I can see that.
How did leaves get into the pool? It's all the way up there...

It's all thanks to my PET and my Navi! It's used for work data, receiving mail, or for students to upload their textbook data. For such a small object, it has a large number of functions. Even bothersome tasks can be handed off to your Navi. It's a great tool!

There's a garden in the middle of this house. Talk about a modern design!
There's a house near where I lived as a kid that had a design like this. It always fascinated me.
It's common in Japanese estate designs to have a emphasis on gardens, either completely enclosed or partially so, by the house.

Every morning, the wife sends off her husband with a hug. They're the perfect couple because they get along so well.
I'm sure it's a different story behind closed doors.

I've heard of it. A lot. Since 2002.
If viruses get in electronics they damage them, so Navis are sent in to delete viruses! I'm pretty smart, huh?
You sure are, kid.
A FOREHEAD TO RIVAL YAI'S!

I have no money at all, and don't really need any SubChips right now, but it can't hurt to look at them.

MiniEnergies restore 50 HP to MegaMan. They're not worth the money at all.

Unlockers unlock Purple Mystery Data--essentially locked treasure chests. I'm going to end up needing a lot of these over the course of the game, which kinda sucks because they're so expensive.

LocEnemies make you considerably more likely to encounter the last virus formation you ran into--or, failing that, at least a formation that contains one of the viruses you last ran into. They're extremely useful for chip grinding, and therefore, extremely expensive. Less expensive than previous games, mind! These things used to cost 10000 zenny.

You can hear the construction work going on inside.

It's still under construction, so you can't go in.
Boo. Lemme in, I'm the protagonist, I have special privileges.
Do you really want Lan around active construction?

Sage and crucial advice!

Oh yeah... You just moved here! Central Town is the heart of Cyber City! We are going to have an Expo here later this year! That's the Expo Site over there... Well, actually they are still making it! Next to that is my school... Cyber Academy! Are you going to transfer there? I hope you get used to things here fast!

You can hold the B Button to dash! Try it out!
Extremely crucial for not making the overworld an unbearable slog.

Entering the general vicinity of the park triggers a plot-advancing cutscene.

This robotic dog is jumping up and down and menacing this girl.
*mwoof mwoof*

Ooh, unique portrait. She's important.

please god not this stupid music
But that's... Normally, RoboDogs are programmed to never attack humans.
I know! So that means that RoboDog...
...Is probably infected with a virus! Lan, press the R Button to send me into that RoboDog!

I love Digital Strider. It's my favorite general Internet track of any of the games.
Okay, MegaMan! Our first Central Town virus busting!
Right! You operate, I bust!
Busting makes me feel good! Wh-wheeeee!
But, Lan, with all the packing and moving, you haven't been virus busting lately. Sure you can still do it?
Are you kidding?
Oh? Okay, then, let's do it!

Ahhh, classic.

With that, welcome to 95% of MegaMan Battle Network: battles. Basic controls: d-pad to move MegaMan, no diagonal movement, B button to fire the MegaBuster (deals 1 damage by default), hold B to charge the MegaBuster (deals 10 * your Buster's normal attack), A to use the BattleChip at the top of your queue, and Start to pause.

As for Chip selection, by default, you are given five chips to select. Unlike earlier BN games, Chip draws aren't random--they're not even really pseudo-random, certain chips are given priority for being drawn over others. Multiple chips can be selected if they are of the same type, ie. multiple Cannons (although note that other chips cannot be selected if the selected chips are not of the same code), or if they are of the same code as each other, or are some combination of chips with one code and chips with the * code.

Pictured here is me using Cannon, which deals 40 damage to the first enemy or obstacle in front of MegaMan. You'll also notice that I got a Counter Hit, which has changed the image of MegaMan in the top left, made his battle sprite a bit lighter, and given him a pink hula hoop thing. This is known as Full Synchro, which you are given upon getting Counter Hits, and doubles the damage of your next chip attack.

Oh, right, Counter Hits are triggered by hitting enemies with a non-time stopping chip during their counter frames, which vary from enemy to enemy, and attack to attack. Some attacks only have counter frames that would realistically require you to be in the damage zone while the attack is going off, some attacks don't have counter frames at all.

One more thing: In BN6, Counter Hits have an extra effect: they increase your Busting Rank. I cannot overstate how much easier this makes getting S ranks in virus battles. I'll explain that in greater detail later.

There, I summarized three tutorial battles' worth of info for you.
Nice job!
1. shoot the guns
Excellent! Nice work, Lan!
Ah, you too, MegaMan!
How's the RoboDog?
It's OK. It's back to normal, I think. Jack out, MegaMan!
Roger!

The music is silent here.
Don't worry, we took care of the RoboDog!

Um... I'm Lan Hikari. I'm new here--I just moved in. What's your name?

...I dunno what else I was expecting.
Nksor must be one of those new baby names, like Naveah. They're getting worse all the time.
Huh?
T-Thanks...for...helping...me...

And the Mysterious Girl runs away.

She's embarrassed, I think...
Oh... Well, she's not hurt, so I guess she should be okay. Let's get back to looking around town!

Once we've talked to everyone and done this scene, we get an email.

I jack back into the RoboDog, though.

I'M THE ROBODOG PROGRAM! BOW WOW WOW! I'M SUPPOSED TO BE A WATCHDOG! BOW WOW WOW!
Here's our first Mr. Prog of the game! Mr. Progs are sentient programs that perform extremely specialized tasks inside computers and the Internet. They also usually have pretty cute things to say.
I like their little ear attenas.

Anyway, I'll explain Mettaurs briefly. They're the most basic enemies. They only have 40 HP, and their attack involves slamming the tile in front of them with their pickaxe, which causes a very slow shockwave to travel down the row they were on. Their movement is very simple: they wait until no other Mettaurs are acting, and then try to line themselves up with MegaMan. Later variants will put themselves in a guarding state when they're not the ones actively attacking MegaMan.
They're very cute helmet guys.

When all enemies are deleted, you're shown the time you took to delete all enemies (as in, time spent actually in active battle, not time spent in time-stopping animations or the Custom screen), and your rank. Rank is based on a variety of factors: deletion time, how many times MegaMan flinched from damage, how many times MegaMan moved, whether or not you got a Double or Triple Delete, how many Counter Hits you got, and one final factor relating to a mechanic that'll be introduced later.

These are the drop tables for Mettaurs; on the left is the one used when MegaMan ends the battle at or above 37.5% HP, while the one on the right is used for if MegaMan is below 37.5% HP. The difference is basically just that the low HP table replaces Zenny drops with HP restoration. Note that, for my own convenience, all enemy drop tables will apply to Falzar only! Specific codes can vary based on if you're playing Falzar or Gregar.

Here, I got Reflector1, in A code. The Reflector series of Chips are fucking fantastic, and a massive upgrade from the Guard series from previous games that they replace.
ROYALGUARD BABY

Before I go any further, here's a Blue Mystery Data. Mystery Data are essentially treasure chests, and there are five varieties of them:

Eh.
WHO NAMED THE MONEY IN THIS GAME!?

Anyway, I replace one of the MiniBomb chips that was in my folder by default with the Reflector1 A chip.

Here's a chip that comes in the starting folder that's of quite a lot of use. CrackShot destroys the tile in front of MegaMan, and then launches it down the row he's standing in, dealing 60 damage to the first thing it collides with. 60 damage is a pretty solid amount for early on!

Oh, right, broken panels: you can't step over 'em. Lots of attacks/Chips will crack panels, which cause them to become broken after you step on them (unless you have FloatShoes but let's not get into that yet).

regret.png

Here's Reflector1 in action. Note: the Guard effect lingers for a few seconds, but it won't fire off the damaging blast after the first instance.

Reflector is really easy to get Counter Hits and multi-deletes with. I just fucking love these Chips, seriously.

Also, here's a charged Buster shot.

Also, here's Vulcan, our first multi-hit chip. Vulcan fires three 10 damage shots, which damage both the first enemy or obstacle in MegaMan's row, and the tile behind them. Now, yes, Vulcan only deals 30 damage by default, but because it's multi-hit, attack-boosting chips increase Vulcan's damage by a lot. Throw an Atk+10 on Vulcan? It now deals 60 damage. Two Atk+10s? 90 damage. Are you using it during Full Synchro? 180 damage.

Alright alright I'll get on with it now.

The bottom email is a intro to a few very basic battle concepts that I already instructed you on.

The top one, though...

I also set up a mail program on your homepage. Cyber City's network has strong security so it is hard to access from outside the system. To get mail from outside, you have to check the mail program. To see mail from ACDC Town, I've setup this mail program's mailbox to send and receive. It may seem like you don't have mail, but give it a look.
We'll get mail from Mayl, Yai, Dex, and Ms. Mari as the game goes on, which we have to check from Lan's homepage.
Don't you mean his Cmptr?
Computer's usually abbreviated as Comp in BN, though!

We just moved, so not knowing the area is quite a hassle.
Couldn't she ask her navi to find her a good store?
...God, I want to say that Haruka does have a Navi, but I can't remember what game brought it up.

Alright, let's get on the Internet.

The Mr. Prog to my left here is the mail Prog that Yuichiro mentioned. He has no mail for us right now, though.

And with that, welcome to the Internet! It has a very tile-y design in BN6--very reminiscent of BN2's Internet, actually.
I expected more cat pictures and terrible things.

THERE ARE 3 CENTRALAREAS! THE LAYOUT AROUND HERE'S SIMPLE, SO YOU SHOULDN'T GET LOST.
He's right, you know!

Here's the first Green Mystery Data of the game, and it has garbage in it! Lucky me.
If you have recovery chips in your folder and aren't running a specifically RollSoul or MeddySoul build, don't @ me chump.

This NormNavi just lectures us about Mystery Data. I already did that!

It has a map of CentralArea1 on it.

Here's a thing cut from the US/EU version of BN6: the Cyberspace Maps. These give a map of the entire area you're currently in, along with locations of warps, shops, and BBSes. It's not terribly useful for Central1, but some Internet areas can get a bit confusing later.

These, along with other bits of content, were cut to make the US/EU version ROM fit on the 8 MB cartridge.

Eh.

This is a NetCafe. It's a good place to gather info. So you should make friends with lots of Navis here!
Thanks... So I can learn the Net basics here, huh?!

They are called Security Cubes. They're there to block access to private homepages. To unlock a Cube you need the P-Code (Passcode) from the webmaster. Some Cubes can also be opened with money. Security Cubes blocking the road can be annoying, but you have to take security seriously.
Note that when she says "some Cubes can be opened with money," she means "one Cube can be opened with money." There's only one toll cube in the entire game.

To go to Central2, we need to have a Reflectr1 chip in either code. Just the game making sure you're not running from literally every battle, and are capable of getting decent ranks in battles.

THAT CHIP SHOP OVER THERE IS VERY POPULAR. YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT.
A fantastic idea.

Don't have much money on me, though, so I'll do it later.

Timely.

Hello there!

RegUPs increase MegaMan's Regular Memory. Regular Memory is the maximum capacity we have for setting Regular Chips.

Basically, I can designate one given Chip in my folder as the Regular Chip, as long as its MB value is equal to or under MegaMan's Regular Memory. Regular Chips always show up in the first slot of the Custom screen at the start of battle. It's generally a pretty good idea to set crucial utility chips as your Regular Chip.

New virus. When MegaMan enters a Gunner's row, it starts searching every tile in front of it. If MegaMan enters the crosshair, or moves in front of it, the Gunner will fire on the tile he was sighted on.

Like so.

Also, this is me forgetting that Gunners don't fire on the entire row, unlike their later variants.

Also, here's me demonstrating that Full Synchro tints enemies blue when they're in their counter frames.

Also, bit belated, but there's a Battle Mystery Data here!

Ugh BugFrags. BugFrags are the other, non-Zenny currency, and they're annoying as shit to farm up. And we're gonna need a lot of them for 100%.

Eh. WideSwrd hits the column in front of MegaMan for 80 Sword damage.

Ooooooooooh yes. I can get this in a better code but lemme talk about it now. The MachineGun chips fire at the farthest closest column with an enemy, and hit 9 tiles, in a snake pattern, starting from the lowest tile. If an enemy is still in the column, it re-traverses the column. If there are no enemies, it snakes to the next column. These chips are really good for both single-target damage and multi-target damage.

Here's the Gunner drop table. It has the same drops for both the low HP and high HP drop tables. As you can see, the high rank drop is MachGun1 in A code. A code is extremely good for earlygame in BN6.
I have strong feelings about MachineGun chips.

yessssssss

Here's what MachGun looks like in action. For the record, if there's only one enemy and they're in the center of the column, they get hit four times, assuming they don't get a chance to move mid-MachGun.

...Well, how about that. I'm a lucky lady, it turns out. Tornado hits two tiles in front of MegaMan for 20 damage a hit eight times very rapidly. That's 160 damage by default, which is already respectable, but it can get fucking stupid with attack boosts. A single Atk+10 will boost it to 30 damage per hit, aka 240 damage. Got Full Synchro? 480 damage. Use just DblPoint, a Chip we'll get in the far future that provides +60 to one chip? 480 damage too. You get my point.

Tornado comes in L, R, and T codes. For my money, T is the best code amongst them, for reasons I'll discuss much later. Much, much later.

I toss it in the folder, even though I have no other T code chips now, and won't for a while.

Not shown: I also have five MachGun1 As in my folder now, replacing a bunch of worthless MiniBombs and some Swords. Note that in BN6, the number of one type of Chip you can have in your folder is determined by the Chip's MB value--a major, major change from previous games. Several powerful Chips used to be MegaChips, which have a default limit of 5 per folder, with no duplicates of a given chip. In BN6, however, they've all be turned into StandardChips with high MB values, meaning that while you can still only put one of them in your folder, they do not count against your MegaChip limit. The limits are as follows:
This also means there's a legitimate non-code argument for using lower-level versions of certain chips compared to higher-level versions: you can put more of them in your folder.
Trash all Minibombs.

And I came to see the huge crater in CentralArea3... What a pain in the butt!

After talking to that Navi, this happens.
Guess I should... But I wanna explore just a little more! I mean, don't you wanna see more of our new town's Net?
Well, yeah. Okay, just a little longer. But, not too much longer, okay? Can't be late on your first day of school, you know!
Yeah, yeah, I know. I think I can handle myself. C'mon, what are we waiting for?! Let's go!
You can handle yourself, huh? ...Alright. I'll trust you.
I've already done everything I want to on the Internet now, though, so I jack out.

Riiiiiiiiight after grabbing this extremely useful utility Chip. CopyDmg tags the first enemy in MegaMan's column. While the effect is active, all damage dealt to other enemies is unconditionally reflected to the tagged enemy. This goes through every type of guard, even Auras. CopyDmg is extremely useful for getting multi-deletes, or even just taking care of troublesome enemies, and it's going in my folder now and will stay there for the rest of the LP.

When you reach the end of a "chapter" (to borrow terminology from Star Force's internal file structure), you're allowed to keep exploring whereever possible until you decide to turn in for the day, and go on to the next chapter.

Conveniently, MegaMan also asks if you want to save here.

And with that, we're done with the start of BN6. Next time: Lan goes to school, and things go wrong. It's a shonen anime, what did you expect?
