Well, to be specific, there is only one hard and fast rule: Only two characters maxmium per person, please. A lotta people had good ideas for characters...but which weren't fully fleshed out for EO5, and I wanna see what happens when that kinda creativity's put into the two best things someone can muster.
Meanwhile, here's the suggestions side of things:
- Character bios. I will ask that you write these, but I don't have a specific length requirement or maximum. However, do note that a paragraph, plus maybe two sentences or so, usually gives me enough to get a good, concrete idea of what to do with that character and how they interact with everyone. Backstory's perfectly fine but don't expect it to show up much.
- Be as serious or silly with characters as you want, but do bear in mind that all things are eventually subject to my own interpretation. I might take characters that swing too far to either side, but only after tempering them internally.
- PALETTE SWAPS. This is the "big" feature of character creation this time around. See, Tyty and I worked on a little thing called MakeSTEX a few months ago. What this little program does is it takes a PNG file, and spits out an STEX file that EOU can use as a character portrait. Essentially, I can replace any portrait with anything I want. In this case, though, I am going to be sticking to the EO2U portraits. However, with that in mind, when you submit a character, you are also free to include descriptions of a custom palette swap for them. This could be something like "hair should be green" and "sword should be neon pink." I reserve the right to deny really ugly ones like the latter, though. Note that I unfortunately can't do exact edits, but I can best-guess and get something close to what you describe most of the time.
Here's an example custom palette swap. - For Highlander and Gunner, using the protagonist or Frederica's portraits for a Classic character is entirely fair game. However, if you're going to do that, I am going to say that you must submit a palette swap. No using the default portraits.
Here's all the base EO2U portraits for each class:

Good luck!
